Jonathan, an old friend, designs and makes stunning kitchens, furniture and more. He works with wood a lot. His work is both beautiful and useful.
I met with Jonathan early on in the design of the extension and he offered invaluable advice throughout the build. But he also specifically designed and built our kitchen and storage.
The whole process is personal and bespoke and is bound to cost more than an off-the-shelf kitchen. But maybe not as much more as you think. Jonathan’s kitchens start at £15-20,000 plus appliances. You get a something made personally to meet your needs precisely as well as meet your budget.
Jonathan and I sketched out the layout together, then used a shared Pinterest board to brainstorm ideas, adding captions to explain which elements we liked. Then we bounced designs back and forth until they were agreed. I saw concepts, material samples, even a prototype mini cupboard.
Jonathan makes the furniture in his workshop and then installs it on site relatively quickly, but with the attention to detail of an absolute perfectionist. He has all the gear and lots of ideas.
